The website of the WMF already includes the preparation catechesis (31-10-05)

Valencia - The preparation catechesis for the 5th World Meeting of the Families (WMF), held in Valencia from the 1st to 9th July 2006, can now be consulted at the official website of the meeting www.emf2006.org.

The catecheses, nine in total, have been elaborated by the Pontifical Council of the Family and the Archbishop of Valencia. They are soon being translated into English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese, according to sources from the Foundation of the 5th WMF to the local news agency AVAN.

The catechistic program, which will be used by parishes around the world, includes an index with the topics and structure of each session. It includes an introduction with the address of pope Benedict XVI at the opening of the Church Congress of Rome's dioceses about the Family and Christian community last June.

The corresponding titles in the catechesis are as follows: The Family, first and main transmitter of faith; Triune God; The person of Jesus Christ, center and synthesis of the Christian faith; The Holy Spirit and the Church; The sacraments, special moments for the transmission of faith; The commandments of the Law of God; Sunday: Eucharist and other expressions; Popular devotions and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Each of the catechesis comes with an initial chant, the Lord's prayer, biblical readings and the Church teachings, according to the same sources, just as the reflection of the one who leads the meeting, talks and compromises of the participants. It concludes with a prayer for the family and a final chant.

The Pastoral Plan of preparations for the WMF, that were overseen by Cardinal Monsignor Alfonso López Trujillo, president of the Pontifical Council of the Family in Valencia last week, together with the parishes of the dioceses, also includes within other initiatives, the organization in each of the parishes of one week dedicated to the family, it as added by the same sources.
