The 5th WMF opens its enrolment process for volunteers (02-10-2005) VALENCIA - The organisation of the 5th WMF, called for by the pope in Valencia in July 2006, have now started the registration process through their website www.wmf2006.org and the information hotline 0034 96 338 2176, according to sources from the local agency AVAN. "Everybody over 18 years old and teenagers over the age of 16 with parental authorisation, who register and are selected for the varios tasks that need to be covered" can participate as volunteers according to the Foundation of the WMF. The tasks for volunteers involve taking care of participating families and their reception at stations, the port and airport; guidance for the pilgrims at certain locations of the city; collaborations in the media center; translating and interpreting, and logistics during the events, as well as the escort of authorities and the coordination of the groups. According to the same sources, the volunteers application form is published on the website. The first selection and classification will be done through personal interviews and it is then going to distinguish the distribution of responsibilities for each area or group. Once the selection process is over, "they will tell the assigned tasks to each volunteer" which will respect their personal preferences and experiences as much as possible. Furthermore, people who are interested in working as a volunteer for the WMF will have to attend a training course for various hours, including both general and specific training. The WMF website has already received several hundreds of applications, as well as testimonies supporting the meeting. That website also includes a forum for volunteers in which they can exchange comments and suggestions. |
