Support from all valencian family associations (20-09-2005)

VALENCIA - Today, the Archbishop of Valencia, Monsignor Agustín García-Gasco, has said that preparations for the next WMF that will take place in Valencia in July 2006, "will help to raise the value of family, to show its unique role in society and its mission of evangelizing".

During a Mass in the Cathedral of Valencia with around a thousand attendees, representatives of family movements and associations of the diocesis, with the occasion of the beginning of the year that will end with the celebration of the WMF, Monsignor García-Gasco thanked all those communities for "their action and enthusiasm in their commitment with this historic event".

"It is not just talking about family and producing literature about it, but to assume and spread the role of family to transform society because we live and spread our faith in Christ", he added.

Before the Mass, a note was read on behalf of all attendees that expressed their support to WMF. The fact that it will be held in Valencia "fills us with joy and leads us to open our homes to those who will come from all over the world".

They have also shown their concern about "some social situations that threaten the dignity of marriage and, consequently, family as an institution".
